Mitrovica, October 30, 2017 – On October 30, Demand for Justice (D4J) Program organized a lecture for the University of Mitrovica Live Legal Clinic. This week’s guest lecturer advocate Vehbi Beqiri shed light on the steps that an advocate takes in criminal proceedings.
Beqiri elaborated on solving real cases, illustrating his lecture illustrating each point with case-based fact patterns. In addition, he also discussed the challenges of becoming an advocate, the duties and responsibilities of advocates, and methods for engaging with clients.
The Clinic students were satisfied with the lecture and found it useful for gaining practical skills to match the theoretical foundations laid during their studies.
The University of Mitrovica Live Criminal Law Clinic is supported by the D4J Program and it offers students of the Faculty of Law the opportunity to assist advocates of the Kosovo Bar Association (KBA) in their pro bono representation of criminal defendants who cannot afford an advocate. The Clinic serves XX students, who are provided the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practice by working on live legal cases under the mentorship of a KBA advocate during the final year of undergraduate studies or graduate studies in law.
