Peja, November 9, 2017 – D4J Clinic Students Ablina Lleshi, Besiana Përgjegjaj and Genti Berisha observed a hearing at the Basic Court in Peja.
Students had the opportunity to learn first-hand what it is like to work in the court of law. During this insightful visit, they got familiarised with the factual aspects of the case they attended and the legal issues under discussion, aspects that provided students a unique learning experience.
They left the courtroom excited to have had the opportunity to see how direct examination, advocacy, and client representation work in real life cases in the courts.
The University of Peja Live Criminal Law Clinic is supported by the D4J Program and it offers students of the Faculty of Law the opportunity to assist advocates of the Kosovo Bar Association (KBA) in their pro bono representation of criminal defendants who cannot afford an advocate. The Clinic serves students, who are provided the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practice by working on live legal cases under the mentorship of a KBA advocate during the final year of undergraduate studies or graduate studies in law.
