The basic court of Mitrovica in Vushtrri hosted 19 students from different high schools and universities from Mitrovica for a court visit that is coming as a follow up of Court visit in Mitrovica which is part of the same court. The President of the Court Mr. Ali Kutllovci welcomed the students and showed them the court premises and conditions for them to get a better understanding of how the court operates. After showing students the court premises, the presentation continued in the court room where the trials are held. The Court Administration engaged translators for Albanian and Serbian with the goal to accommodate the participation of all the students present. Mr. Kutllovci explained that the Basic Court in Mitrovica has branches in all seven municipalities in Northern Kosovo (Mitrovica South, Vushtrri, Skenderaj, Leposavic, Zvecan, Mitrovica North and Zubin Potok) but at the moment they have operating offices in Vushtrri, Mitrovica North and Skenderaj.
The goal of this visit was to increase transparency and accessibility of the legal system in the region of Mitrovica. The open conversation with the judges and the court administrative staff amplified the level of trust students have towards judiciary institutions, and also gave them a better understanding of the obstacles that judges face.
