March 20, 2017 – Students from the Demand for Justice program’s Live Legal Clinic at the University of Prizren met with the Chief Prosecutor Admir Shala and Vice Chief Prosecutor Zejnullah Gashi during a visit to the office of the locality’s Basic Prosecution.
After a tour of the facilities they met with the Mr. Shala and Mr. Gashi, who delivered an introductory lecture regarding the activity and functioning of this Prosecution, the challenges and the achievements that were made during this period. The lecture gave clinic students the opportunity to learn about the investigation phase, the decision to initiate investigations, the filing of the indictment, professionalism at work and other similar topics. The Clinic students were very pleased with the visit to the Basic Prosecution, as well as with the insights gained at this meeting.
The University of Prizren Live Criminal Law Clinic is supported by the D4J Program and it offers students of the Faculty of Law the opportunity to assist KBA advocates in their pro bono representation of indigent criminal defendants. The Clinic serves 12 students, each of whom will have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practice by working on live legal cases under the mentorship of a KBA advocate during their fourth year of law school or Master’s program.
