Demand for Justice Program (D4J) Partners with Lëvizja FOL to Address Transparency Issues in the Justice System in Kosovo

November 3, 2016 - The Demand for Justice Program (D4J) signed a grant agreement with Lëvizja FOL - one of Kosovo’s leading CSO watchdogs - to address significant transparency gaps within the justice system in order to encourage justice actor accountability.

During its initial grant period, Lëvizja FOL will develop an e-justice platform for the justice sector that will enable FOL and the public to monitor and support judges and prosecutors seeking to increase transparency and accountability in the justice system consistent with their constitutional obligations, and other relevant legal requirements. FOL’s process of creating and filling its e-justice platform with public information such as court hearing schedules and causes of cancellation, court judgments and decisions, and judge and prosecutor performance assessments and financial disclosure will be informed by stakeholder interviews, legal research, and national discussions and debate.

D4J is a U.S Department of State/INL funded program which began in August 2016 and is supporting the development of robust, evidence-driven demand for justice in Kosovo and increased critical-thinking and practical skills building amongt the legal community.
