YIHR KS Delivers a Lecture to Legal Clinic Students

Pristina, January 19, 2017 - Youth activism and participation was the main topic in this week’s lecture of the Demand for Justice (D4J) Live Legal Clinic. Mr. Albert Selimi from Youth Initiative for Human Rights Kosovo (YIHR KS) was the guest speaker informing Legal Clinic students regarding YIHR KS’s activities in promoting human rights, rule of law and strengthening the role of young people in Kosovo. Mr. Selimi presented the YIHR KS’s newest engagement with D4J to conduct outreach activities in high schools. This presentation attracted students’ interest since this will give them the opportunity to deliver lectures to high school students together with YIHR KS on the topics of “rights”, “access to justice” and “accountability”. The Legal Clinic students were very excited about this opportunity and they look forward to helping YIHR KS in their school lectures as well as other activities such as debates and competitions in support of issues such as human rights, judicial access and accountability.

The D4J Live Criminal Law Clinic offers students of the Faculty of Law the opportunity to assist KBA advocates in their pro bono representation of poor criminal defendants. The Clinic serves 14 students, each of whom will have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practice by working on live legal cases under the mentorship of a KBA advocate during their fourth year of law school or Master’s program
