Demand for Justice Program Signs One of its Main Outreach Partners

January 13, 2016 - The Demand for Justice Program (D4J) signed a six-month grant agreement with Youth Initiative for Human rights Kosovo (YIHR KS) for the implementation of the “Youth for Justice – Y4J” Project within the D4J Program. Established in 2004, YIHR KS is a leading civil society organization in Kosovo mainly known for its strong belief in human rights and civic values as the basis of every open and progressive society.

YIHR KS will be leading the education component in the D4J program with a primary aim to teach high school and university students regarding legal rights, access to justice, judicial accountability, and related reform processes in Kosovo. Through these lectures, they will equip young citizens with basic human rights knowledge, empower them to prevent violations of such rights, and inspire them to demand increased accountability and transparency from justice sector actors – thus triggering more impartial, equittable, fact-based, rational judicial and prosecutorial determinations worthy of the public trust.

D4J is a U.S Department of State/INL funded program which began in August 2016 and is supporting the development of robust, evidence-driven demand for justice in Kosovo and increased critical-thinking and practical skills building amongt the legal community.
